The Joy of Giving Back / by Anne Bussone

Reiss Design Studio staff member, Anne Bussone, has recently been matched with a 93-year-old senior through the Caring Caller program at Wilshire Community Services in San Luis Obispo. Caring Callers is a program in which volunteers make visits to seniors on a weekly basis.

As part of Reiss Design Studio’s Change the World program, Anne started working with Wilshire Community Services three months ago, driving seniors to appointments through their Good Neighbors program, while awaiting her “forever match.” She is very excited to have met a new senior friend and looks forward to their weekly outings. They enjoy shopping together, short walks, lunches, and just plain old chatting!

Anne has a special interest in spending time with seniors, so this project is very dear to her heart. She feels that they have a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to pass on to the younger generations, and she enjoys being a good listener. Anne infuses each interaction with her energy, and she loves to put a smile on their faces. One of her past Change the World projects included regular Bode dog visits at Solvang Friendship House —an assisted living facility that specializes in Alzheimer's care.

The joy of giving back and making an impact on the world, one senior at a time!
