Jacob Van de Roovaart is an Architectural Designer at Reiss Design Studio. Jacob is involved in all phases of project delivery - from Pre-Design through project close-out. Jacob's attention to detail, drive for excellence, and friendly disposition make him a valuable member of the RDS team.
Jacob was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to the Central Coast to study architecture. He has received his Bachelor of Architecture with a minor in Sustainable Environments from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Over the years he has worked for a variety of firms specializing in single and multi-family housing projects, restaurants, and hotels. While at Cal Poly Jacob developed a passion and understanding for environmentally responsible design and strives to implement sustainable principles whenever possible.
As a part of Reiss Design Studio’s Change the World Program, Jacob is working closely with SLO Parks and Recreation Department to revamp and redesign many of San Luis Obispo’s trailheads. This involves the design of a consistent set of kiosks, benches, and fences that will be implemented in many trails over the next few years.
Jacob and his wife have fallen in love with the Central Coast and are here to stay! In his free time he enjoys making furniture for his home and for friends, playing hockey, bike riding, and hiking.
